I'm back from Art and Soul. It was an amazing adventure, as always. On Saturday, I left my room at 8:30 and didn't get back til after midnight. There was just too much to see and do! I had a class on Saturday from 9-5 with Thomas Mann. Then, I had my booth to set up for vendor night. And, of course, I had to shop everyone else's booth before the doors openend. After that, we had Vendor Night from 7-10. Then it was time to load up the van, and do a little socializing.
I've been reading the
Vintage Rescue Squad blog for quite some time, and was thrilled to finally get to meet Sue and her sister Michelle. Sue is a junker extraordiaire -a girl after my own heart!

Julie Haymaker Thompson through my friend
Elizabeth. Julie's work is fresh, and hip and has an old-school primitive vibe at the same time. Julie herself is a breath of fresh air. I can't wait to take a class with her in the future. Elizabeth has posted her "Steampunk Lily" class project on her blog. It came out beautifully!
So now that I'm home, I can post more pictures of the thingie. (Spoiler alert - If you're attending an Art and Soul retreat in the future, and don't want to know what the thingie is - then read no further!)
It was a teapot! I decided to do a memory-jug style treatment on it. I ordered
Laurie Zuckerman's memory jug cd for myself two years ago, and finally got to create my first piece. I've been collecting bits and baubles for ages. I was amazed at how many I had that fit the Wonderland theme.
I have so much more to tell about each of my classes, but it will have to wait for another day.

Your pictures of your teapot came out so much better than mine!!! you didn't tell that you won the prize!!!!!! I adore this piece and I am looking for a piece to do in this same way with a different theme- judy want's you to teach a class along these lines- youare going to be BUSY!!!!!!

OMG, I took a 2-day class with Thomas Mann at Art Unraveled in Houston a couple of months ago! Isn't he awesome? Of course, I purchased more from him than I actually made! And I am taking two classes by Julie Haymaker at Art & Soul in Portland this October as well! We must have the same taste! Love your blog.

Hi Leslie, you've created a wonderful Thingie masterpiece! A rather amazing, totally together piece with your sense of humor and whimsy. I will send your photos to my bestfriend in Savannah, just been visiting there and got home last night. She will love your teapot, as she created a Mad Hatter tea party birthday for her six-year-old granddaughter. We have both taken classes with deMeng, and Kathy has been to Art and Soul, too. Hello my friend. It's been a long time since we spoke, but I check up on you via your blog occasionally. I'm fascinated with the direction your art has taken . . . from stamping cards, to jewelry, to altered art. It is all wonderful. I still wear proudly the beautiful jewelry you made for me when I lived in VA. Hope all is well with you and the family.
